Excuses of the Bad Blogger

It's been quite some time since I have posted. Although I'm sure that I have had larger lapses 2007 was meant to be a year of regular posting. Life for my little family has been quite busy and somewhat stressful. With spring approaching there is thousands of things to be done around the house. Not all by me but by my darling husband. And as we all know when your partener is wrapped into a project you are obligated to pick up his other duties or it just simply won't get done. Sports have become just as common as taking a shower in our daily routine. Yet more time consuming than anyother activty we participate in. Although the blogging has suffered in the past couple of weeks, knitting has not (a bonus to the demands of children in sports.) But what has happened since I last visited my little space in cyberworld?

The youngest turned 9 the middle of the month. Exactly one day after my last post. Unlike when I was a child and you had a birthDAY, we have birthday WEEK. Or so it seams. The initial family party had to be scheduled around cousins and their busy schedules. Which wasn't at all bad as it was just ordering a couple of pizzas and of course cake and ice cream. But, narrowing a day down where everyone didn't have anything going on was....well, I could of used a secretary will all the back and forth phone calls. None the less the family came over sang happy birthday and went on their way to fullfill the demands of their own lives. On his actual birthday (which happened to be right in the middle of the birthday WEEK) we sent cupcakes to school. Which there was about 6 extra. All 6 which he decided to eat on the way home from school. Which of course gave him a terrible tummy ache causing him to be quite miserable during his practice. All of the whining made me miserable too. I did not, at the time, realize that he had eaten what he did. I thought he was just trying to weasle out of practice. But on his actual birthday, we opened his gifts at home, just the four of us. None were of any surprise. The Ipod and tent were exactly on his list. Then after an entire week of work, school, and practice and a full day of wrestling came Sunday. A day of rest. Sorry, not with this troop this week. It was the friend birthday party. It wasn't all that bad, except we were all just tired from the previous days. An afternoon spent eating cake, icecream, hotdogs, and playing miniture golf with a couple of his bestest buds. Finally at 430pm on Sunday the birthday week was over.

Like I said earlier my knitting hasn't suffered the past ten days at all. Although I've had to undo some of what I've done, it hasn't been that tramatic. Ella, the sleeveless sweater, with front and back complete, neck and one sleeve border on was turning the corner to being completed. That is until I pulled it over my head and pinched the underarm together (sides hadn't been seemed together yet) only to find that the armhole was tight. It isn't a terrible project to fix. Just remove the neck and sleeve edge and knit about 5 more rows onto each piece. It's just that I was so close to finishing it. I did also start the Cable Down Raglan fron 2007 spring interweave knits. I spent quite a bit of time setting it up. I also had about 6 inches on it. Then I looked at it. I had a marker place between a knit and purl section. The marker was to fat. It created a gap.... Now when I noticed this I felt my heart sink to my toe. Out it came. All the way out. So now the yarn sits all neatly wound in my basket waiting. Waiting for me to have an evening to set it all up again. The only thing that is saving me on the project is that I have until next fall to complete. I can't see wearing alpaca in the middle of the summer. Sometimes I can't see wearing alpaca in the middle of our mild winters. Oh don't worry there is more. And a positive more. With all of our activities I NEEDED (like I needed another hole in my head) a mindless project. Or at least a portable project. So I started Isabella from the new Knitty page. Now it calls for Rowan 4 ply cotton, which you can't get here in town. So I'm using Heirloom 4 ply cotton. I started it about a week ago. And am only about 20 rows from the armholes. So it is coming along super fast. Especially since it is on 3.75 needles. I still have my pink drops top on the needles.... I need some time to sit down and rigure out measurements as if I follow the pattern it won't be a top but a dress. I also pulled out my shawl last night. The one I started last fall in which all I have left is the lace border. I've actually made it a mission to work on it each and everyday. It's only a 4 row repeat of about 20 stitches. Each row is different and with the alpaca it is hard to read my knitting.... so it is for the quiet moments. When the rest of the family is off doing something different.

I did get to go to my knitting group last Friday night. With the sports I had only gone one other time since the beginning of the year. It was somewhat like a little reunion for me. I really have missed the gang. I should be able to start going again a little more regularly now. Or at least for the next couple of months. Unfortunalty come spring and summer the group really thins out due to the nice weather....

Well, time is getting away from me. The flower beds are calling me.......clean me....clean me....my blooms won't look that pretty with all this crap next to me.....
