Packwood Knitting Weekend

Wow. What an unbelievable weekend. 9 women, chocolate, homemade soup and baked goods, happy hour, and lots of knitting. Although I didn't get hardly any pictures at all, this is a memorable weekend that will not be forgotten. Friday we all staggered in from a 2 1/2 hour drive. Some arrived early and some at bedtime. Dinner was a delightful steak salad with homemade dressing. (Thank you dear wonderful Tom for sending it with Judy!) Saturday morning started with knitting and coffee with wonderful smells coming from the oven. Homemade Rubarb Bars from Jessica. All from scratch.... she even grows her own rubarb. (Jessica~that brought me back to my childhood and my mother's rubarb desserts.) And then more knitting. And more wonderful smells from the kitchen. Lunch was served. Lentil soup and cornbread. (That was my first ever KitKat.... very very tasty.) After lunch we headed off to the town of Packwood. The annual quilt show and a little walk was our destination. Mid afternoon we return and all crowded around the table to make the knitting journals. Everyone was adding their own little twists to the project. A lot of creative activity going on there. Which was probably jump started by Nancy's KeyLime Pie Martini's. (I want the recipes.) It was like a liquid pie. Graham cracker rimmed glass and all. All of the creativeness makes a girl hungry. So off to Cruisers we went. The local mom and pop resturant. Mmmmmm. Some had fish and chips, others pizza, I on the other hand said GIVE ME SOME GREASE and ordered a bacon cheeseburger. (Thanks for dinner Heide, next time we are arm wrestling.) With tummies full it was timet o return to the cabin and slip into a little SIP SIP KNIT. Which I was only able to handle a taste as it was pure hard liquor. But Wylia topped off the drink with miniture handmade knitting needles. Sunday morning rolled around. A little lazy knitting, breakfast at cruisers, clean up, and a drive home. It was a great weekend and a wonderful group of women. Thanks gals! It was great.
